Dialup Settings for Windows 3.1
Using Trumpet Windsock (TCPMan).
These instructions assume that you have not had a dial up connection for CyberXpress or Planet
installed on the computer before and that you have Trumpet Windsock (TCPMan) already installed.
If you are just wanting to change the dialup phone number then you can go straight to
Step 6. If Trumpet Windsock (TCPMan) starts to
automatically dial press the Esc key to stop it.

Find and double click on the
Trumpet Windsock (TCPMan) icon. |

Go to File in the menu and select
Setup. |

You should now be on a screen
called Network Configuration. The setting are as follows:
IP Address: 0.0.0.0
Netmask: 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway: 0.0.0.0
Name Server: 202.36.174.1 202.36.174.2
Time Server: Leave blank
Domain Suffix: cyberxpress.co.nz
Packet Vector: 00
MTU: 1500
TCP RWIN: 4095
TCP MSS: 1460
Demand Load Timeout (secs): 5
TCP RTO MAX: 60
Internal SLIP: Leave unticked/uncrossed
Internal PPP: Make sure it is ticked/crossed
SLIP Port: Type in the number of the com port your modem is on. This is usually 1, 2 or 3.
Baud Rate: Type in one of these: 19200, 38400, 57600 or 115200 - depending on the speed of
your modem.
(14.4k = 19200, 28.8k = 38400, 33.6k = 57600, 56k = 115200).
Hardware Handshake: Make sure it is ticked/crossed.
Van Jacobson CSLIP compression: Leave unticked/uncrossed
Online Status Detection: Select None
Click OK.

Go to the File menu again and select PPP Options.

Type in your Username and
Password. (You would have been given these when you opened your account.) Make sure
they are in lower case and have no extra spaces.
Also, Use Password Authentication Protocol (PAP) should be ticked/crossed.
Click OK.

Go to Dialler in the menu and
select: 1 setup.cmd

Enter the dial-up phone number you were given when you first opened your account.
Click OK.
Enter your Username (In lower case, no spaces). Click OK.
Enter your Password (In lower case, no spaces). Click OK.

Exit Trumpet Windstock (TCPMan) and then open it again. If it doesn't automatically
start dialling you can log in by going to the Dialler menu and select Login. The
modem should start dialling.

Once connected you can then
go into your browser or check your email.
